Alano's dam Regidora is by the extraordinary 16.3 hh stallion Regalado II, who was the first colt by the renowned Spanish Military stallion Leviton to be imported to the United States from Spain. Leviton was one of the greatest PRE breeding stallion of Spain and produced more Andalusian horse champions than any other stallion alive at his time, including the Spanish Olympic horse Evento. In the Book of Merits of Spanish Pure-Bred Horses and Mares, Salvador Sanchez Barbudo, Spanish judge, described his thoughts about Leviton, "I first saw this horse at an early age at a presentation...., and his grace of movement left me speechless". Regalado was chosen specifically for his dressage potential, physical ability, and exceptional work ethic, traits which he has passed on to his descendants. Regalado was shown in open dressage competition with tremendous success by the professional rider Willy Arts. While in training for his F.E.I. career, Regalado tragically passed away at the age of 10, making his offspring all the more valuable. |
